ABOUT US
We left the UK to start a new adventure in France in 2015. Having holidayed in Charente Maritime for many years we wanted to make this part of France our home. At Au Chiron we look forward to sharing our beautiful 19th century farmhouse and giving guests a peaceful and relaxing stay.
We are situated in the hamlet of Le Chiron with open views over the Charentaise countryside. The village of Aulnay is a short drive away and has bars, restaurants, shops and supermarkets, and a twice weekly market. It is especially known for its popular Sunday market in the square. Also nearby is the smaller village of Néré with a bar and some shops. The larger town of St Jean d'Angély is a twenty minute drive.
Au Chiron offers a perfect place from which to explore the Charente Maritime area. If you need any help planning your journey or your time here we are happy to help.

ROOMS AND TARIFFS
We have three double bedrooms at Au Chiron, each with their own en-suite shower room and complimentary toiletries. All rooms are non-smoking and pet free.
Check-in time is between 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and we ask that you check-out by 10 a.m. on your day of departure.
Tournesol
Tournesol is located at the back of the house on the first floor with views over the lake, garden and fields beyond and is named after the views of the sunflowers we get during the summer months.
High season (May to September) room rate, including breakfast, is €75; low season, €65 .
Raisin
Raisin is at the front of the house on the first floor and named after the many cognac vineyards around Au Chiron. It is a large double room with views over the front garden and hamlet of Le Chiron.

Rose
Rose is a large, bright and sunny double bedroom on the first floor at the front of the house. The room has views of the front garden and the hamlet of Le Chiron.

At Au Chiron
Our aim is to give guests a relaxing and peaceful getaway. The terrace, lake, garden and views make it a perfect space to sit back and unwind.
Breakfast is served from 7 a.m, weather permitting, on the terrace. Our continental breakfast includes:

bread, croissant and pain au chocolat with the famous beurre des Charentes and jams made from our own fruit

orange juice, tea, coffee or hot chocolate
Local Amenities
The villages of Aulnay and Néré are close by. Both have bars and restaurants and we are happy to make reservations for you if you wish.
The outdoor pool in Aulnay is open throughout the summer and there are also a couple of fresh water lakes nearby, perfect for swimming. Aulnay has a great Sunday morning market.
For a more extensive selection of bars, restaurants and shops St Jean d'Angély isn't too far away.
Charente Maritime
With the Atlantic Ocean running along the coastline of the Charente-Maritime there are 463 km of coastline and four islands: Ré, Oléron, Aix and Madame.
The Gironde estuary, the largest in Europe, is an area of exceptional biodiversity. The Seudre estuary has salt marshes and oyster beds. The area is known for it's Cognac and Pineau and the town of Cognac is just a 40 minute car drive away.
Keen cyclists can explore the many cycle routes including the beautiful La Vélodyssée and La Flow Vélo.
If you like walking there are some beautiful walks in the Saintonge area.
